Fish Tales Dinner Theater

by Beth Jarrott

I am so excited about the upcoming Fish Tales musical and dinner scheduled for Saturday, May 15 at 6:00 pm in the FLC gym. Our children here at the Grove have been rehearsing for many weeks and are so excited to be able to finally share the Fish Tales story! What a great opportunity this will be too for our Myrtle Grove family to not only be entertained, but to enjoy an awesome meal as well! By the way, Parchies Catering Service will be catering the event. If you love good old fashioned southern cooking, you will thoroughly enjoy what Parchies has on the menu: fried chicken, BBQ, coleslaw, baked beans, BBQ boiled potatoes, hush puppies, and iced tea! The cost is $3.00 for children under 12, and $5.00 for ages 12 and above, and $20.00 max per family. Invite a friend!

Fish Tales centers on Mr. Gill and the children in his fishing tournament. During the contest Mr. Gill seizes the opportunity to share stories straight from the Bible, from explaining the Icthus, the fish symbol used by early believers, to sharing why Jesus, the Greatest Fisher of Men, died for our sins. Mr. Gill, along with his cast of inquisitive characters, will reel you in as the children sing and dance right into your hearts.

You’ll be hooked, too, by the Dance Arts Conservatory’s performances, led by Cory Smith. These talented dancers have a unique, God-given ability to share God’s Word through the Creative Arts. You will be deeply moved by their Revelation Song and equally inspired by St. Patrick's Blessing, an exuberant Celtic piece that will set your feet to dancing!

What an awesome jumpstart to summer! Don’t miss out! Make plans to attend Saturday, May 15th. Be sure and call the church office, 791.6179, or go online, myrtlegrove.org, and let us know how many will be in your party!

Kids Making a Difference!

by Beth Jarrott

After hearing about the devastating earthquake in Haiti that killed and wounded thousands of people, the Luscher girls were deeply moved. Later while traveling to a favorite vacation destination, a conversation ensued about the survivors of the earthquake that left thousands of families without homes and left countless children orphaned. Rachel, Sam and Sadie quickly began to think of creative ways in which they could help the earthquake victims.

Consequently, they returned from their trip rejuvenated and determined to take on the mission of raising funds to benefit the earthquake victims. As a result, this trio helped to design tee shirts with the Haitian flag that read, ―Pray for Haiti‖ along with, ―He alone is my Rock and my salvation, He is my fortress, I will never be shaken‖ (Psalm 62:2). These gals with their hearts of gold, sold over $700 in tee shirts that went directly towards the Haitian relief effort! Way to go Luscher girls!
